For the study, Serre and his associates used state-of-the-art computer system vision formulas to analyze simple black-and-white pictures containing 2 or more arbitrarily produced forms. Sometimes the objects were identical; sometimes they were the same but with one item turned in connection with the other; sometimes the objects were totally various. The computer system was asked to determine the same-or-different connection.The study revealed that, after numerous thousands of educating instances, the formulas were no better compared to chance at acknowledging the appropriate connection. The question, after that, was why these systems are so bad at this job.
